The optical yarn break sensor

The STAR-Y optical detector monitors yarn presence / breaks in all commonly used colours and yarn counts and signals the break.
The STAR-Y detector, developed using innovative optical technology, is normally positioned in the area beneath the ring spinning frame suction pipes and does not affect the normal operation of the machine.
The STAR-Y detector is in the shape of a rectangular section bar with extremely compact dimensions that enable it to be installed on a broad range of different types of machine.
The STAR-Y detector is particularly recommended on systems that use plastic travellers.

Yarn breaks are signalled as follows:
1. Illumination of a three-colour indicator to inform the operator of the side of the frame involved and the number of breaks that have occurred.
2. Illumination of a red LED on the spindle.

This type of signalling system facilitates surveillance and simplifies identification of spindles with yarn breaks, thereby eliminating time wastage.
The sensor STAR-Y is able to trigger the ROVING STOP MOTION device
The STAR-Y sensor is also perfectly integrated in the FA.NI system for monitoring spinning machines output.
