The sensor for "Core-Spun" systems

The STAR-L optical detector monitors elastomer presence / breaks in "Core-Spun" type feed systems.

Use of the STAR-L detector helps to eliminate the production of yarns without elastomer, which are difficult to detect during winding, thereby avoiding problems during the weaving phase.

The STAR-L detector is the shape of a rectangular section bar with extremely compact dimensions that enable it to be installed on different types of ring spinning frames and "Core-Spun" feed systems. The dimensions and position of the STAR-L detector bar on the frame are shown in figure 1.

Breaks can be signalled as follows:
1. Illumination of an indicator lamp to inform the operator of the side of the spinning frame involved.
2. Illumination of a red LED for each specific elastomer filament.

This type of signalling system facilitates surveillance, thereby eliminating time wastage.

A RESET button is present for each eight detectors on the STAR-L detector bar, with the following functions:

1. When the RESET button is pressed for 1-2 seconds, the STAR-L detectors for spinning positions without material are disabled. This deactivates the breakage indicator and prevents activation of the ROVING STOP MOTION device.
The detector is reactivated automatically when the elastomer is detected for approx. 1 minute.
2. Manual activation of the detector by pressing the RESET button for 5-6 seconds with consequent activation of the indicator lamp corresponding to the broken or missing elastomer filament.

The STAR-L detector can be installed on the machine in different configurations:
* STAR-L detector only for monitoring elastomer breakage.
* STAR-L detector + ROVING STOP MOTION device: to stop roving under the drafting arm following breakage of the elastomer.
* STAR-Y or SENSORFIL detector + STAR-L + ROVING STOP MOTION device: for combined monitoring of the yarn on outfeed, the elastomer and stopping of the roving under the drafting arm following a break.
